Spend a week exploring South Luangwa National Park, known as ‘the valley of the leopard’. It has this nickname for a reason - there is no better place in the world to observe and photograph leopards.
On top of that, there’s a healthy population of lions, sightings of wild dogs, elephants, thornicroft giraffe and crawshay’s zebra (both endemic to South Luangwa). Stunning southern carmine bee-eaters will be present this time of year too, and we will pay a visit to the Nsefu Sector (where BBC's ‘Kingdom’ was filmed).
This is a full week immersion into South Luangwa, staying at Chikunto Lodge - one of South Luangwa’s premium lodges that specialises in photography, with spacious, open vehicles with bean bags, a waterhole with a hide right in front of the lodge, and even an editing suite. Located about 50 minutes north of the gate inside the park, you will be staying away from the busier area close to the park gate.
We will also conduct night game drives in search of nocturnal species, lions and leopards, and who knows what else might turn up!
Creating the best images requires patience, and I have always found that the more time you give a destination, the better the images will be. With a full week, it is sure to be an amazing adventure and you will return with a portfolio of stunning images.
