This Antarctica photography expedition offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to capture breathtaking wildlife and landscape images in one of the most remote and pristine environments on Earth. The dramatic landscapes of towering icebergs, vast glaciers, and snow-covered mountains provide a stunning backdrop for photographing some of the world’s most iconic and photogenic wildlife — including:

  • Gentoo, Chinstrap, and Adelie penguins.
  • Four different species of seal (Antarctic Fur Seals, Leopard Seals, Crabeater Seals and Weddell Seals).
  • Various species of whale (depending on the time of year).
  • An almost endless variety of seabirds.

This workshop is suitable for photographers of all levels—from complete beginners to seasoned shooters looking to expand their portfolio. You’ll receive ongoing 1-to-1 guidance throughout the trip, with expert tuition tailored to your experience and goals. With ample time to shoot, practice new techniques, and develop your personal style, you are guaranteed to return home with an incredible set of images.

If you would like to discuss joining a future trip, please drop me a message, or pick up the phone. I'd be happy to have a chat.

ITINERARY

One of the exciting things about Antarctica is that no two trips are the same. Depending on the weather conditions in different places, the expedition team decide on where to visit each day (generally this is wherever is least windy!). Most trips involve part of the time cruising in an inflatable zodiac and part of the time on land visiting penguin colonies, seal colonies, and experiencing some of the stunning landscapes up close.

Travel before and after the boat expedition will depend on where you are travelling from. The 11 days on the ship are as follows:

  • Day 1: Arrive in Ushuaia (Argentina), the most southerly city in the world.
  • Day 2: Join the ship in Ushuaia, Argentina.
  • Day 3 & 4: Cross Drake's Passage. There are many fascinating talks from the expedition crew and researchers on penguins, seals, glaciers, geology, antarctic history, and much, much more. There are also some great opportunities to get involved in citizen science.
  • Day 5, 6, 7 & 8: 4 days to explore Antarctic Peninsula with 2 trips per day. After crossing Drake's Passage, we’ll have four full days on the Antarctic Peninsula, making two excursions per day - a combination of zodiac cruises and landings. But it's not just when we're on the excursions that you will have the opportunity to photograph. The landscape is breathtaking in every direction, and the light in Antarctica can be mind-blowing at almost any point in the day. You will find it hard to put your camera down, even when on our expedition ship.
  • Day 9 & 10: Travel back to Ushuaia with lots of time for editing workshops, and more lectures.
  • Day 11: Disembark the ship in Ushuaia.
MY PROMISE
  • You will always receive plenty of 1 to 1 time, even on a group trips. During down time, I am always available to help with editing - a vital part of the photographic process.
