TRAVEL & LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP HOLIDAY TO TRANSYLVANIA, ROMANIA
Matthew is very pleased to announce the first in a series of photography workshops holidays to Romania. This initial workshop will focus on Transylvania, with subsequent trips visiting the Maramures and Bucovina Regions. The final in the series will be a New Year special, featuring winter landscapes and carolling in traditional bear skin costumes.
This photographic holiday is all about learning, practising and experimenting with newly acquired techniques, tips and tricks, while exploring various locations in Transylvania. Time spent flicking through slides, sat indoors is kept to a minimum!
By the end of the trip, you will feel confident about both technical and creative aspects of photography. You will learn to take control of your camera using shutter speed, aperture and ISO to create the look that you want from your photography. You will further your photographic eye, develop a proactive photography mindset and understand how to apply this to any given situation in order to allow you to capture eye-catching and emotive photographs when traveling in the future.
When we are not out and about, Matthew will provide feedback and guidance on photos taken during the day, as well as offering assistance with editing, organisation and output of images.
WHY THE TRANSYLVANIA REGION OF ROMANIA?
Transylvania is an ideal location to learn photography in a short period of time because of the variety of subjects on offer. The Carpathian Mountains and Transylvanian castles at dawn and dusk offer the perfect subjects to learn landscape photography. During the day, we will spend time observing, learning about and photographing the traditional way of life and craft skills that people still adopt in Romania.
We have a number of planned stops each day, but also leave time for impromptu photography sessions, as the most exciting thing about photography in Romania is not knowing what is happening around the next corner. On my last trip, I stumbled across shepherds herding their flocks of sheep, women spinning wool and a local traditional clothes festival. We will also spend time wondering through villages, simply meeting and chatting to locals via our fantastic local guide Daniel. This invariably ends in amusing stories, insights into the Romanian culture and intimate portraits.
If you want some more inspiration, just check out the photo gallery at the bottom of this page. Romania is a fascinating country, offering a wonderful combination of both people and landscape photography that will ensure you come back with a beautiful portfolio of images.
