Morocco

This collection of Morocco travel photography was produced on a two week trip around the country. I have almost never experienced such a wide variety of landscapes in such a short space of time!

Marrakech is like no other city in the world. Its frenetic and colourful souks and historic sites branch out from Djemaa El Fna, the chaotic main square in the centre of Moroccos’s capital.

The old fishing town of Essaouira is on the coast to the west of Marrakech. The old city, historically known as Mogodor, has a lively maze of back streets to explore, with bustling souks and an interesting, rugged old fishing port area crammed full of its bright blue iconic fishing boats.

Erg Chebbi Desert is part of the Sahara Desert and is home to some seriously impressive and photogenic sand dunes, the highest being over 150m tall.

The images from the The High Atlas Mountains were taken close to Imlil on a two day trek through the berber communities. The hike started in Oukaimeden (Morocco’s permiere ski resort….yes, you did read that right!) and ended in Imlil, taking in the villages of Tacheddirt and the Tizi n Tichka pass on the way.

A curated selection of Morocco prints are available in Matthew's photography print shop, but if you can't see the image you are after then just get in touch!
